Prof. Dr. Ing. Enrique C. Quispe Oqueña
Enrique C. Quispe (M´95, SM’12) was born in Lima, Perú, on January 20, 1956. He received the B. Sc. In Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Perú in 1980. M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering, M. Eng. in Industrial Automation and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Universidad del Valle, Colombia in 1994, 1997 and 2011 respectively.
From1982 to 1985 he was a Junior Design Engineer and from 1986 to 1991 he was a Chief of Department of Electrical Motors at DELCROSA, Perú. From 1987 to 1990 he was an adjunct professor of electrical rotating machines at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Perú and from 1990 to 1991 he was an adjunct professor of design of electrical machines at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Universidad Nacional del Callao, Perú.
In 1992 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, Cali, Colombia. From 1992 to 1995, from 1995 to 2003, from 2003 to 2012, and since 2012, he was Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor respectively. Since 1998 he is Director of Energy Research Group of Department of Energy and Mechanical. His teaching interests include electrical rotating machines, transformers, electromagnetic theory, electrical drives and power quality. His research interests are focused on analysis of electrical machines and management and energy efficiency.
He is the author of more than 36 papers published in technical journals and conference proceedings. He has been an Invited Visiting Professor at Universidad de Burgos, Spain (1999) and the Universidad Nacional, Manizales Colombia (2000). He has supervised 1 MSc and 40 technical apprenticeships. He has coordinated 20 research and industrial projects.
He is actively involved in the field of standardization on electrical machines and management energy, both at the national and international levels. Since 1995 he is member of the Standardization Technical Committee No 131 of Rotating Electrical Machines ICONTEC, Colombia and since 2000 he is Chairman of this Committee. In 2007 he collaborated with Pan American Standards Commission COPANT in the development of standard about determining efficiency and power factor of induction motors (Project
Since 2003 he is an Expert Evaluator of the National System of Science and Technology of Colombia (Colciencias SNCyT) for research projects of the National Research Program of Energy and Mining. Since 2004 he is a pair of National Accreditation Board of Colombia (Consejo Nacional de Acreditacion CNA) for academics program in electrical engineer. Since 2008 he is a pair of National Intersectoral Commission for Quality Assurance of of Higher Education- CONACES of Colombia (Comisión Nacional Intersectorial de Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior). He is a reviewer for several technical journals, including the IEEE Transaction on Industry Applications. Since 2003 is Member of Scientific Council of Encuentro Cientifico Internacional (Perú). He was member of the Organizing Committee of Red Colombiana de Investigación en Eficiencia Energética and of the International Conference on Rational and Efficient Use of Energy (2004, 2006 and 2008). Since 1995 he is member of the IEEE Industry Applications Society and IEEE Education Society and since 2012 he is a IEEE Senior Member. Since 2010 he is a member of the Asociación Colombiana para el Avance de la Ciencia.
Prof. Enrique Quispe received the Electrotechnical Peruvian Association Award in 1985 and 1987; Best Paper Award of the III International Conference on Rational and Efficient Use of Energy (Energy Efficiency Session 2008). He received the Distinguished Author Award in 2006 and Distinguished Professor Award in 2007 by Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, Colombia. He has been listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Dr. Quispe is Registered Professional Engineering in Perú since 1990 and at Colombia since 1993.
